Depending on the type of charger you have, it may stop automatically once the battery's full or it may power off after a set period. If not, flip it on and let it do its thing. If your charger needs to be plugged into a power supply, make sure it is. Just be sure to follow the directions that come with the charger and any guidance offered in your owner's manual. If speed is what you're looking for, though, flip the switch or turn the dial to high. Going with lower amps will result in a longer charging period, but it may also lead to a more reliable charge. On the charger, you'll need to adjust the volts and amps. The battery could be leaking hydrogen gas, in which case even the smallest spark could lead to an explosion or fire.Īs the Chicago Tribune notes, connecting the negative cable to the negative terminal could cause a spark. While you can also attach the black clamp to the battery's negative terminal, it's not the safest thing to do. Now attach the negative (black) clamp to a stable area on the vehicle's body, or chassis. Then, attach the positive (red) clamp to the positive post on your battery. First, make sure the charger and your vehicle are off. This process is similar to the one for jumpstarting a battery. (You can find basic portable car battery chargers at many auto parts stores for as little as $25.) Note that depending on the situation (and type of charger) you can use the charger to quickly jumpstart or fully recharge your battery. Once you've prepped your battery, you’re ready for action! If you’re fortunate enough to have a battery charger in your trunk or you have access to one, take these steps. How to Use a Portable Car Battery Charger You can remove the corrosion by cleaning it up with a brush and a paste-like mixture of water and baking soda. However, it can compromise your car's electrical system and make it harder for the battery to receive the charge. It's a product of battery acid fumes coming into contact with the air-and it’s pretty common in most lead-acid batteries. Generally, corrosion looks like a greenish, crusty substance around your battery ports. Keep the hood up and let the battery cool before trying to charge it. Heat rising from the battery case might mean it's been working harder than it should. Stay away from the car, get it towed, and let a professional take a look. Sniff around.ĭo you smell something that reminds you of rotten eggs? If so, the battery might be leaking dangerous gas and you should not try to charge the battery. Additionally, slip on safety gloves and glasses. Also, take off any jewelry, as it can be a safety hazard. Make sure you're charging the battery in an area where there aren't any flames, sparks, or smoke. Refer to your manual.Įvery car is different and your manufacturer might have specific instructions for your make and model. Start with these five steps before you try to charge or jumpstart a car battery. A battery that needs to be replaced, however, won't hold a charge or will need to be recharged multiple times. For example, leaving an interior light on overnight will drain your battery, but if the battery is "healthy" then it should quickly recharge. You might need to charge your car battery if your engine is sluggish or slow to start, or if your battery is completely dead.īeyond starting your car, charging your battery can help clue you in to whether or not it's time for a new one. When your battery is too weak or old, it can't do either of these things. The car battery provides a steady stream of voltage to keep your engine and accessories running (like your radio, headlights, and any onboard computers). The battery delivers voltage to the starter by transforming chemical energy into electrical energy. It gives your car the power it needs to start. What Does a Car Battery Doīefore we charge ahead, you should know what a car battery does. Our Roadside Assistance folks are available 24/7 for jumpstarts, tows, and more. Firestone Complete Auto Care is only a phone call away. Follow along to learn how to charge a car battery safely and how long to let your car battery charge.Īs you read, remember that you're not alone out there on the road. You also don't want to get stuck with a dead battery (again) if you don't let the battery charge long enough. You don't want to get shocked or accidentally touch battery acid. Charging a dead car battery is a bit more complex (and potentially more dangerous) than charging your smartphone.

Each blade had a locking mechanism that was simple to release when we were ready to use it. However, certain tools couldn’t be opened unless we opened another tool first. This multi-tool could easily fit in our pockets, but it also came with a nylon sheath to wear it on a belt. During our testing, we found that it could be opened with just one hand, which made it easier to use on the go. It’s small and lightweight enough to carry without compromising on necessary features. If those tools weren’t already enough, it also includes a wire stripper, a bottle and can opener, a ruler, and multiple screwdriver sizes and interchangeable bit drivers. The cast who portray the immediate Parton family in the film ‘Coat of Many Colors’Īlong with others in the complex cast, newcomer Alyn Lind portrays the nine-year-old Dolly Parton in the film, with Jennifer Nettles playing the part of Parton’s mother and Ricky Schroder tackling the intense portrayal of her father. In light of the major programming shuffle in Friday night’s schedule, NBC apparently is more than happy to accommodate. The buzz on the street is that not only do viewers want to re-visit the film on Christmas night many of their recorders will be set for future viewing. But, there are other really import messages in this movie other than that like anti-bullying which was just as prevalent in the ‘50s as it is today and it can be cruel.” In an early-December interview with Haskell, he offered this summary – a “CliffNotes-type” version of the inspirational film: “Faith, hope, family, forgiveness, love – that’s what Coat of Many Colors is about. The once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today. It’s based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton’s remarkable upbringing. That is the highest rating for a broadcast movie in nearly five years - a span covering 158 entrants.īeloved actress and singer, Dolly reported via its website earlier this month: ‘Coat of Many Colors’ is the first of four scheduled TV films for NBC. ‘Coat’ also rose 27 percent in the key 18-49 demographic, reaching a 2.34 from a 1.84. Now, ‘Coat of Many Colors’ is the most-watched broadcast TV movie in more than six years. It originally scored 13 million total viewers, per Nielsen’s Live + Same Day ratings, so per L + 3 Day numbers, “Coat” has now eclipsed 15.5 million total audience membesr. The movie’s 2.548 million additional total viewers in three-day delayed viewing is the biggest lift ever for a broadcast movie. The film was already a big hit ‘live’ - and it’s now set a record for delayed viewing. The movie, which dominated viewership across the US in almost all age categories on December 10, has been critically lauded and the staggering statistics tell the story.Īccording to Tony Maglio, author of TheWrap: “With three-day delayed viewing numbers in, NBC’s Dolly Parton‘s ‘Coat of Many Colors’ made-for-TV movie is now most-watched in 6 years. central time.Įxecutive producer Sam Haskell (left) on the ‘Colors’ set with director Steve Herek“After 15.6 million people saw Coat Of Many Colors making it the highest rated major network movie in the past six years, NBC has decided to broadcast an encore presentation of our movie on Christmas night,” co-executive producer Sam Haskell said. Judge Melinda Brown told him his planned move to Staunton, Va., “seems to be a wonderful opportunity,” according to a report by the Washington Post. With that as a backdrop, attorneys for Nexus Services accompanied Zachary Cruz to court in Broward County on May 11 where he asked a judge to allow him to move to Virginia and transfer his probation there. Two days later a judge agreed to release him on condition that should he drive without a license again he could be subjected to a jail term of two months. His situation became more complicated on May 1, according to CNN, when he was arrested again in Palm Beach County for allegedly driving an SUV without a driver’s license and for being too close another school, both of which violated the terms of his probation. The release terms also prohibit him from contacting his brother Nicholas and any of the Parkland shooting victims or survivors, including those who were his friends, and that he not enter the grounds of any other school. Among the terms of the probation was that he would wear a GPS monitor and stay at least one mile away from Stoneman Douglas School. 14 shooting rampage at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., in which 17 students and faculty members lost their lives.Īn arrest report for Zachary Cruz says he told Broward County sheriff’s deputies he skateboarded through the school’s grounds in March because he wanted to “reflect on the school shooting and soak it in.” CNN has reported that Zachary Cruz entered the school grounds after having been warned by school officials to stay off the school property.ĬNN reports that on March 29 Zachary Cruz pleaded no contest to the trespassing charge and was sentenced to six months’ probation. Zachary Cruz’s brother, Nicholas Cruz, 19, has been charged with multiple counts of murder for the Feb. The company’s founder and CEO, gay rights advocate Mike Donovan, has said Nexus intervened in Zachary Cruz’s case after it determined that authorities in Broward County, Fla., had treated him unfairly by persuading a judge to set bond at $500,000 for a simple trespassing offense that normally is just $25. You can see a comprehensive overview of the features in ATLAS.ti Desktop and ATLAS.ti Web here. Since everything is saved online, your projects are immediately accessible from any computer with an internet connection. You can log into ATLAS.ti Web to create projects, analyze your data, and extract meaningful insights and outputs from your research. With the release of ATLAS.ti version 23, ATLAS.ti Desktop now includes the option to save your projects in an online cloud storage.ĪTLAS.ti Web is the fully online platform of the software, which was also natively designed from the ground up to provide you the additional option of working completely online without having to download or install any software to your computer. The classic method for backing up or moving your projects consists of exporting the project and then saving it wherever you prefer (e.g., in an external hard drive, an online cloud storage, sending it via email, etc.). ATLAS.ti Desktop saves projects on your local computer to ensure both data privacy and offline availability. To understand this more deeply, let's take a quick look at the main differences between ATLAS.ti Desktop, ATLAS.ti Web, and the project cloud storage option available in ATLAS.ti Desktop.ĪTLAS.ti Desktop refers to ATLAS.ti Windows and ATLAS.ti Mac, which are software applications natively designed for optimal functionality in their respective operating system. Please keep in mind that ATLAS.ti Web does not support all the ATLAS.ti Desktop features, you can see a comprehensive overview here. If you are working in both ATLAS.ti Desktop and Web: Export your project from the first platform (Windows, Mac, or Web), then import it into the second platform you wish to work in (Windows, Mac, or Web).Teams can thus collaborate in real time, because anyone's changes are automatically saved and updated in the project that everyone is working together on. All of your projects are automatically saved and accessible online (just log in to your ATLAS.ti Web account on any computer with internet access). If you are working in ATLAS.ti Web: You do not need to do anything.ATLAS.ti Windows and Mac have 100% transferability back and forth between them. Alternatively, you can export your ATLAS.ti Desktop project, then import it into ATLAS.ti Windows, Mac, or Web (on any computer). If you are working in ATLAS.ti Desktop: Upload your project to the cloud storage, then download the project in ATLAS.ti Windows/Mac on another computer. To start off, let's briefly outline the different options you have for backing up your projects and/or working on the same project across different computers: What is the difference between ATLAS.ti Desktop cloud storage and ATLAS.ti Web? How can I sync or transfer my projects across computers and/or ATLAS.ti platforms (Windows, Mac, Web)? How do I work in a team with a mix of platforms? What is the difference between ATLAS.ti Desktop cloud storage and ATLAS.ti Web? You can duplicate your photo to apply new edits, but you don’t need to sacrifice the storage space on your computer. In short, virtual copies are the best way to duplicate a photo in Lightroom since it gives you the best of everything. Your first edit would be saved to the original RAW file, while the remaining two edits would be attached to the virtual copy XMP files linked to the root RAW image. For example, you could apply three totally different edits to the same photo using two virtual copies. For each virtual copy created, you create a new set of instructions for your photo. When you create a virtual copy, you are creating a fresh XMP file for Lightroom to use. That way, Lightroom can see your original RAW photo, look at the editing instructions from the XMP file, then apply those edits onto your photo for viewing in the program. This file contains all the information for what adjustments you’ve applied to your image. Instead, Lightroom creates a new set of “instructions” attached to that particular image.Įvery time you adjust your photos in Lightroom, you create something known as an XMP file. The original image file does not get duplicated on your computer. In this example, my virtual copy is listed as my RAW file name / Copy 1. As you create more virtual copies, you will see Copy 2, Copy 3, and so on.Ī virtual copy creates a duplicate version of your photo, but only inside of Lightroom. You can also note virtual copies from your other files via the file route listed at the top of the filmstrip. You can easily tell the difference between the virtual copy and the original file by the dog-ear fold in the bottom corner of the image thumbnail. Just right-click on your photo in the filmstrip or Library Module and select “Create Virtual Copy.”Ī virtual copy will then appear directly beside the original inside of your Lightroom library. To duplicate a photo with a virtual copy is very easy. So let’s dive into each of them! How To Duplicate A Photo In Lightroom 1. You can now create a new edit for the virtual copy without taking up extra space on your computer.īesides virtual copies, there are a few other options for duplicating your photos in Lightroom. This creates a duplicate version of your photo inside of Lightroom without duplicating the original file. To duplicate a photo in Lightroom, right-click on your image and select Create Virtual Copy. One of the easiest ways to duplicate a photo in Lightroom is with something called a virtual copy. There are a few different ways to duplicate images in Lightroom, depending on whether you want to actually create multiple copies of your original file. When you’re editing a photo in Lightroom, you may want to create a duplicate version to apply a secondary edit or use it as a reference. I look at word problems as more useful now because these are ways that math is implemented in real life. This problem lead to the concept of Eulerian Graph. The origin of graph theory started with the problem of Koinsber Bridge, in 1735. 4, 2015 ISSN 2309-0405 Progressive Academic Publishing, UK. There is math in everything and not all of it involves numbers. International Journal of Academic Research and Reflection Vol. What has changed in particular is the way that I look at math being involved in other fields such as humanities. Nothing has changed for me in my problem solving technically. I understand the use of graph theory, I may prefer doing math that involves numbers but I still learned a lot about graph theory and how it functions. Example 1 r o r i g i n ( 1, 2) ( 1, 2) Example 2 r o r i g i n ( 3, 4) ( 3, 4) Eample 2 shows the same reflection over origin. It will be easier to start with values of y and then get x. We will use point plotting to graph the function. Graph theory was completly new to me in the beginning of this project and at first I didn't find the use in it and I was bummed out because I didn't want to work on humanities work in math class but it turned out not being as bad as I thought. Solution: To graph the function, we will first rewrite the logarithmic equation, y log2(x), in exponential form, 2y x. The process of creating these graphs helped me as I worked through my story because I knew where to place people in to my graphs where they fit best and then I used the graphs to warp my story in a way that makes sense. Learn about reflection in mathematics: every point is the same distance from a. one without using a graph, and a set of 12 problems on reflections over y -1. The literacy is shown in this product because the graphs help you understand the story you are going to read or have already read by showing how certain characters and/or themes connect and how they are displayed in the story. triangle reflected on the y-axis Geometry Worksheets, Math Rotations. I believe there is always room for improvement but I am still proud of my final product. I read it from the mindset of never having read my story before, and it made me realize it was done. I realized that they were finished because when I look at the graphs first, it helps me understand my story. I knew that I had finished my graphs when I had completed my story and reread it after looking at my graphs. Once I completed my first real draft of my theme graph it was a lot easier to understand it, and move forward to create more drafts which led to my final draft shown above. I overcame this challenge by picking out the themes of my graph with someone and then connecting the themes after. You can tell by looking through my drafts that the theme graph changed a lot more than the character graph did. I had trouble finding the themes of my story and graphing them in a way that made sense. See Problem 1c) below.Through out this project, the main challenged I faced was with my theme graph.
